If your office building were to burn to the ground, you’d want to have access to your data. The server is meant for sharing your database files and should be dedicated to that purpose. Exclude the folder holding the live databases from any indexing services (like Spotlight in OS X). Don’t let anyone who is not aware of this situation change the timing of either backup, as it might affect FileMaker Server performance.Ħ. You need to check back regularly to make sure there is still a large gap in time between the two operations. Give FileMaker Server much longer than that to finish backing up before the backup software starts doing its thing. Try running a backup schedule and see how long it takes. It’s just a timing thing to make sure the two processes aren’t working on the files simultaneously. You also need to make sure that you’re not trying to back up those files at the same time that FileMaker Server is running its backup. It bears repeating: Never have your backup software grab from the live folder.ĥ.
